Nuke lands on Bare Necessity with ‘Xenomorph’ EP

Bristol-based South African, Nuke brings the old school drums and sound design to 2022 with 4 huge tracks on his ‘Xenomorph’ EP. Hard-hitting basses, jungley breaks and dark ravey vibes throughout.

Originally from Johannesburg now residing in Bristol, 31 year old Kyle Nelson goes under the moniker Nuke. Since his first EP on Audio Entropy, and despite 5 years of production experience, he continues to evolve his unique sound making for a powerful and compelling break into the Drum & Bass music scene.

Nuke cleverly combines classic dark, deep and rolling basslines with his intricately unique and intellectual sound, landing amongst seriously exciting territory. Aggy and threatening, his tracks set a precedent for other artists producing the iconically dark side of the Drum & Bass genre. He takes a large part of his inspiration from older works from the likes of Noisia and Calyx & Teebee. What really gets him going he describes as an ‘edge of aggression’ and he demonstrates this distinctly in his own tracks. Juxtaposing the fun of the dance with mean and moody melody makes for tracks that more than satisfy a crowd. With past support from the likes of Nicky Blackmarket, High Contrast, Aphrodite and Benny V to name only a handful, he has not fallen short of exposure to the ever-expanding and evolving Drum & Bass scene. His other hobbies include graffiti and football, and even before he started any music production he started to think about Drum & Bass deeper as a genre after listening to artists like Break, Bredren and Amoss. You’d be crazy to take your eye off this space as Nuke continues to release ever-impressing tracks and deepens his involvement in the genre.

Today we premiere ’94 Style’ which sees Nuke collab with Illusive. The second track on the ‘Xenomorph’ EP, ‘94 Style’, goes in hard. Beginning with clever and hypnotic bars and going heavy on the rumbling horns, a calmer mid section aids the reset of the dancefloor and the selector, culminating in a satisfying drop. It’s the perfect track to switch up the game mid set, or a satisfying energy boost later on in the mix.
