Subdue joins the ranks at inHabit with ‘Told You Once’

inHabit Recordings are really starting to make a modest name for themselves. They are proving themselves to be a reliable label trading in all manner of solid, well crafted, dancefloor tech for discerning listeners. They think the moment has now arrived to start spreading their wings and showing a different side of their musical tastes.
Liverpool based producer Subdue joins inHabit with a 2 tracker ‘Told You Once/Changes Feat. Georgia Rose’. He has been making waves with his releases this past year. His most recent being a feature on Soulvent‘s ‘Soul Music 2020’ VA and with releases on imprints such as Skankandbass, Context Audio and The Dreamers Recordings already this year, he now joins inHabit Recordings. Assiduously forging a sound that ranges from dreamy Liquid Rollers to dark minimal Steppers, Subdue has exhibited style and ability in such a manner that it is evident he is one of the most versatile newcomers on the scene.
In one of the most bizarre coincidences of all time Subdue actually went to a party inHabit did in Dublin some time ago but never got talking to any of them. They’ll definitely be fixing that as soon as possible, but in the meantime, they invite us all to listen and enjoy these two tunes.
This release kicks off a series called ‘Texture’, which they plan to be occasional releases showcasing deeper, melodic styles that retain enough presence to carry a dancefloor but that can still hit you right in the feels among all the chaos of a packed club.
Our premiere ‘Told You Once’ is a more conventionally liquid number that gives the keys their moment to shine, before letting more vocals and a warpy bassline spin off into the middle distance like slow-motion fireworks watched through a rainy window. ‘Changes’ enlists the vocal talents of Georgia Rose, layering her breathy tones over a call and response bassline that moves serious air, and framing it all in plangent keys.
