Cybin returns to Intrigue with ‘Encounters’ EP

Cybin returns to Intrigue Music for the ‘Encounters’ EP. The Bristol-based producer first appeared on Intrigue in 2020 with the ‘Shinobi‘ EP and then again in early 2022 with ‘Consequences’, his contribution to the ‘Intrigue 20’ project.
For this EP Cybin returned to classic old-school production techniques, seeking to capture the best of hardware synths, samplers and that unmistakable 808 sound. Aiming to keep the production process as organic as possible, Cybin maximised his use of analogue outboard gear, in combination with DAW-based arrangement, mixing and editing.
The title track ‘Encounters’ is pure science-fiction – Darkside Reese sub bass meets stripped-back jungle depth, the hypnotic synth pattern and pads making this one for the headz.
‘Dub Siren’ is another tune designed to make sound systems shake – deep bass and sirens bringing that rolling, tear out energy.
‘So Foolish’ changes the tone of the EP; a huge, summery, amen roller, taking its name from the vocal sample used throughout – this one is definitely looking good.
Completing the EP is the minimal tech funk of ‘Submerge’. Tough stepping, warehouse-inspired sounds drenched in underwater reverb.
