From the jump, John Rolodex has carved his own lane. Calgary may not be the first place you think of when it comes to breakbeat warfare, but that never stopped him. Across the last two decades, he has stacked releases with the heavyweights including Metalheadz, V Recordings and Hospital, and taken his tough, uncompromising sound to clubs and festivals from Europe to North America. ‘Lineage’ is both a digital album and a vinyl EP, stitched together with the Machinist DNA that has kept the label alive since day one. Expect grit, groove and heavyweight basslines built for basements, rooftops and sweaty warehouse moments. The project unites old friends and new allies, bringing together core Machinist names with fresh talent from across the globe. The real curveball is a rare appearance from DJ Trace, one of the pioneers whose work helped shape the label’s direction back in the day.
