Preview: Electric Woodlands Festival

Bygrave Farm in Baldock, once again welcomes us into the green pastors of fun! From the makers of  RTRN II Dance Festival, and Yam Carnival in London, we are presented with the enigmatic Electric Woodlands. Taking place on 25th September this one day extravaganza is produced by the heads behind Foreverland, CruCast and Event Horizon to name a few. We are in for a huge welcome from this incredible team of talent!

With three stages, each hosting a line up that makes us drool, we are spoilt for choice. The Enchanted Forest (hosted by Foreverland) lures you in to the tree’s with the promise of cosmic, time traveling house and techno (And all inbetween!) Reigning is Richy Ahmed, celestial duo Detlef and Latmun and the special guest John Summit (judging by his Club Space Miami set this isnt one you want to miss!). Joining that A-Team of house and techno, we have Jamie Tala, Alisha, Royal Hustle and Kayley Harriet. If you fancy yourself a house head or a techno traveller, this gift is for you..

Surfing the soundwaves over to the CruCast hosted stage ‘The Clearing’ we are thrown into the deep end with Kings; Skepsis, Darkzy and Kanine, who need no introduction. The three have been killing the electronic music scene and sets a strong, big booming tone for the stage.

Skepsis explosive track ‘Acid’ rained down on us in February earlier on in the year and was blasted throughout summer, with the theme of parties and having fun, the mantra will no doubt carry through to his set! DJ Q and Jamie Duggan are jumping b2b following their collaboration in 2019 with ‘Countdown’ – bassline heads this one’s a present for you. Sharing the crown on this stage is special guest Flava D, along with her incredible talent behind the decks, a strong female presence in the otherwise all male line up on this stage feels healthy. CruCast have sent out some of their best to join her, as Window Kid, Zero and Tsuki will also send out their sounds to our wanting ears. Cajama, Lazcru and MC AD are last but by no means least, anyone into their wibs and their wobs will find it hard to leave this stage!

Finally, we reach round to the mainstage, the ‘Big Top’, Hosted by none of than DNB Allstars. Staying true to their name, this stage is packed full of the best in the business, ‘all stars’ feels like the right statement to summarise this insane line up. DJ Hazard returns to the decks as special guest alongside Bad Boy Chiller Crew. Huge headliners, rulers of the scene Chase & Status come at us with their infamous sound, a highly anticipated set. Close after we are taken into electronic storyworlds by Hybrid Minds Ft Tempza.

Dimension DJ set will be exactly what we are after on that sunny afternoon! It wouldn’t be the big DNB Allstars stage without the Kings of the Rollers (by names and by nature) joined by right hand man Kings of the Rollers will be doing their thing, I know I’ve missed their energy on stage and can’t wait to be experiencing those big smiles and cricket bats once again. Bou, Turno and K Motionz support the all stars statement, all three of them burst into the scene with huge tracks, including Bou and his unreleased ‘Kill Bill’ with Replicant, Turno and his most recent ‘DNA’ and K Motionz new track with Simula – ‘Flex’. Joining them on this castle of talent, we have two partnerships – Sammy Virji b2b Higgo, Alchemist b2b Goddard. North Base, IC3 and Deefa are guaranteed to bring us a level of naughty, dark sound to the woods, setting that ultra irresistible scene!

Without these two ladies it wouldn’t be the line up that it is, again in a male dominated stage two Queens stand strong Mollie Collins and Harriet Jaxxon sending us pure steeze at every opportunity.  So packed of talent, we cant wait to be dancing to their tracks once again.

Electric Woodlands brings us what it promises – its energetic, eclectic collection of big heads, big names and big sounds. The scenes of woods to clearings and all in between suit the dark, wubby sounds of the line up, to create a mystical and otherworldly scene…exactly the escapism we all seek in a festival!

We cant wait to be stomping our boots and finally being able to dance properly at Electric Woodlands…see you front left!
