Renegade Riddims: Cash Bailey

Share

Cash Bailey has been a Junglist since it first became a thing. He has been going out to events and has been totally immersed in the scene since I was 17 years old. After what he calls a mad life, he quite recently in the grand scheme of things, finally decided it was time to try his hand at mixing and has been hitting it hard ever since. He’s been told by friends and family that he has improved massively and after a few emails and a listen through some of his mixes, I had to agree!

Cash Bailey has a deep, deep love for this music and told me he can’t see that ever changing… once a Junglist, always a Junglist!

“It feels nice to reach a point where people want to check out what I’m putting together and are giving me shout outs! You hear this loads, but it really does mean a lot…Peace!”

Cash Bailey

There’s not much else I can tell you about him at the moment as he’s literally just starting out but I really enjoyed what I heard and decided to give him the opportunity to join our mix series and give him a little boost. His mix features music from the likes of Ink, DLR, Skeptical, Soul Intent, Jegbee, Threshold, Dub Phizix and more!

Check out Cash Bailey’s mix below and if you’re feeling it, don’t forget you can download it for free here!

Q&A:

Sum up this mix in 10 words…

Rolling, roughneck, cantankerous, poisonous, slap wall, eyes down, B-boy fashion…

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

Sense Of Direction ‘Simplicity’. It’s a lesser-known Formation track from when I was a kid. Big sounds from a long time back now. ASC ‘Starkwood is a killer tune too though. The intro to ‘Watch This’ remix still drives me mad as well. Both Locked Up Music tracks are hot! Hmmm…There’s not a bad tune on there truly. Who would ever knowingly do that though?

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

Hard and smooth interspersed. Old and new, spread out…

What have you got coming up?

Erm, well, we need some more quality regular DnB / Jungle nights back in Manchester. Things just don’t seem to have levelled back up since all the insanity of the past couple of years. I’m trying to get this sorted with some people. It’s tough to get things off the ground though! Some progress this week, so watch this space people. Keep your eyes out for Code!

When was the last time you actually raved?

I kind of raved when I was laying this mix down tbh! Last time I went out proper though was April at Return to Rage. Should have gone to the last Launch night in July but things fell to bits on my end. Next time though…Launch is the one! Rupture in Bristol in October next… If you catch me in there you can get me a dark rum and coke haha

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

Everyone is fighting their own battles, let’s all try and be nice…
