Emika Launches Kickstarter Campaign To Fund Symphony

If you didn’t know already we bloody love Emika here at Data Transmission. An unconventional artist who refuses to be constrained by genre boundaries Emika has long been able to count us a fans; her unique compositions have continually moved with the ever-evolving world of electronic music, her amalgamation of her signature dark textures with beats and vocals as evidenced on her last two albums consistently impressing.

She’s been keeping customarily busy of late, with the launch of her label and the release of many dancefloor persuasions garnering her plaudits aplenty. A busy woman then, but deservedly so. Having taken some time out of her hectic schedule to deliver a special live set in the DT bunker the last time she landed in London and served up our single of the week with a cannily selected remix package she looks set to continue this purple patch for the foreseeable, taking to Kickstarter to fund her first-ever symphony with the Prague Metropolitan Orchestra.

Calling on her fans to help her bring the project to life, with rewards including one on one Skype production tutorials, a trip to Prague to see the album being made and dinner with the composer herself, the project is arguably Emika’s most ambitious yet as she explains: “I have attempted to create a fresh sound for the orchestra and a new context beyond the constraints of traditional classical music. With traditional scores and orchestras, you never know exactly how it is going to sound. It can be affected the mood of the performers, or the sound of the space it’s being played in. It’s a huge risk. That’s why I’m so excited about it. I thrive on challenges.”

Inspired by world renowned soprano Michaela Srumova you can find out more about the project and how you can get involved by visiting her Kickstarter Page  and watching the promo video below. We’ve just got one question. Where does she find the time?
