Emika Successfully Crowdfunds Kickstarter Project

If you didn’t know already we bloody love Emika here at Data Transmission. An unconventional artist who refuses to be constrained by genre boundaries Emika has long been able to count us a fans; her unique compositions have continually moved with the ever-evolving world of electronic music, her amalgamation of her signature dark textures with beats and vocals as evidenced on her last two albums consistently impressing.

As we mentioned recently she’s been keeping customarily busy of late, taking to Kickstarter to fund her first-ever symphony with the Prague Metropolitan Orchestra.  We can now report that 499 backers pledged €25,470 helping Emika to over-fund her original Kickstarter goal of €20,000, and enable her bring her musical vision to life.

“I’ve found 499 people who are willing to take the risk with me in creating truly fresh music in a fresh way,” Emika revealed. “No one knows how it will sound – yet everyone is invested in the music from the start.  This is post music industry heaven for the independent creatives.  I’m hugely thankful to the backers, my fans, and Kickstarter for making this possible.”

Emika has already been working diligently on the production for the orchestra recording over the course of the past month in which she split her time between Prague and Berlin, meeting with Michaela Šrůmová, Radek, the Prague Metropolitan Orchestra, her Berlin team and a number of engineers. Looking forward to hearing it Ema!

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
