Having opened up about his reasons for quitting his production and DJ career last year, announcing that he was suffering from issues related to his mental health, pioneering dubsteppa Benga joined Skream for his show on BBC Radio 1 to discuss his recovery and return to the scene.

Speaking via Twitter he revealed recently that excessive drug use and hectic touring had brought on bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, resulting in him being sectioned. “I don’t want sympathy but [do want] to raise awareness. Because if I had help early the damage could have been controlled!”. Confirming reports that he’s now back in the studio and looking forward to performing again  Benga also delivered a heartfelt apology to Skream for “disappearing on him” which you can hear as part of the full interview below.

Welcome back Benga!
