Whychek joins the ranks at Rebel Music camp
There’s no stopping the guys over at Rebel Music, their release schedule over the past few months has been nothing short of stacked! Not only are they releasing loads of music, but the standard and calibre of artists and tracks have also been exceptional. Their feet are firmly on the accelerator to grow the brand bigger and better. This time they welcome a new artist to the camp as Whychek makes his debut.
Emerging from the thriving London drum and bass scene with his full-spectrum sound, Whychek is quickly making a name for himself. The past few years have seen a slew of releases which have garnered exponential support from prominent industry taste-makers.
Since 2017, he has been releasing music on labels including The Dreamers and Peer Pressure, gaining support from, amongst others – Andy C, Logistics, Makoto, Taelimb and Conscience, HLZ, Sweetpea, Shyun, Dexcell and contributing features to BBC Radio One, Reprezent Radio, DNB Arena, Skankandbass and the Hospital Records Podcast.
With classical training to grade 8 level in both Piano and Drums and ten years of touring as a professional drummer in his arsenal, he has an eclectic and extensive musical taste, reflected in his varied and evolving sound.
Whychek marks his first release on the imprint with his beautifully crafted ‘Blade’ EP. Consisting of four stunning tracks of deep drum n bass which cover the various shades of the London-based producers sound.
With his track ‘Southside’ from the ‘Rebel One’ LP gaining huge support from DJ’s across the scene and garnering plays on the official BBC Radio 1 Drum n Bass show. This year has already got off to quite the start for this new signing to the label.
Whychek’s ‘Blade’ EP dropped on Rebel Music on 25th May. Today we present to you ‘Hippo’ which starts with a simple drum pattern before atmospherics cut in followed by a wubby bassline and rolling snares.
