Montesco set to drop ‘Tsurugi’ EP on Parallel Depth
Deep, dark and delicate is the general picture that leaves behind a body of work that perfectly combines the style we expect both from the artist and the label.
The waiting has been just too long but we don’t need to wait anymore for the first release from Montesco, one of the heads behind Parallel Depth. Among his latest works he’s had a release on Portuguese label Skalator Music and a collab with Dedman on Parallel Depth. He is also working on an EP for Boey Audio and for the very well known Philth’s imprint Peer Pressure Records. Big things are predicted and 2021 will be a year with loads of music from this young producer.
‘Tsurugi’ is the lead track of the EP and also titles the whole work, a total statement of intentions. 808s, distorted breaks and lots of groove inside of a tech atmosphere which is more than habitual of Montesco tunes. Perfect for Flexout sonic lovers. This will be presented with a remix contest after the release of the track.
The second track on the EP is our premiere ‘Infarto’. This is a collaboration between Montesco and Colombian artist Novaglitch in which percussion is the protagonist. A sand dust bassline with frenetic overheads combine with metallic reso percy fills. The second drop surprises us with a halftime version of the beat just to come back to a 2-step pattern.
To finish off this work we have the brilliantly titled ‘Shithole’. On this track Montesco collabs with Serbian artist Arxiva in which tech and deep influences meet. The very example on how something automate can be felt with spirituality.
All of this factors makes this release one of the most important ones to date for Parallel Depth.
