Newcomer KMTR debuts on Influence Records
Influence Records second release of this springtime sees the drums and bass coming from newcomer KMTR from Japan. Having had just a couple of liquid releases to date, Influence’s head honcho Aaron Jay was keen to explore some deeper sounds with this exciting producer.
Following on from the Detroit Techno sounds explored within their recent ‘Easy’ release, KMTR picks up the brief and continues the theme and comes good and correct with more synth-heavy tunes.
Both tunes are classic Influence sounding, deep, snappy beats and rolling vibes. Both tunes are DJ friendly and are guaranteed to get any dance floor moving and shaking.
Influence relishes flying the flag for new producers and it will come as no surprise that we love this single and are happy to provide this producer with another platform to showcase his talent. KMTR is definitely one to watch!
Today we premiere ‘Respect’ where the term ‘roller’ springs to mind. High hats and rising synths give way to big punchy breaks – the core synth builds whilst a haunting electro sample gives way to a robotic stabbing pad, reminiscent of 80s Sci-Fi films such as The Terminator. A simple track in all respects but the layered pads and strings keep the track morphing while the complimentary sub provides funky undertones.
A brighter affair that nods to some of the earlier Commix sounds comes in the form of ‘4U’. A lovely Reese bass provides warmth that will wash over the crowed while reverse sample loop provides high frequencies that draw in the listener. A pulsing sonic echoes along with subtle percussion providing delicateness to what is essentially a beautifully crafted track. This is the perfect track to bring us out of winter and deliver us into the rising sun.
