Make Me return on 10th August for their session at their cosy Studio Spaces loft with one of the most prolific acts in house and techno of recent years, New York native Fred P aka Black Jazz Consortium. His uncompromising approach seeks to enlighten his audience with distinctly raw and emotive sound design which have led to his work appearing on prestigious labels such as Berlin’s pace-setting Ostgut Ton and Jus-Ed‘s Underground Quality.
Utilizing his Soul People Music imprint as a home for like-minded artists and peers such as Levon Vincent, Move D, Joey Anderson and Aybee, he recently released his third album Codes And Metaphors on the label under his Black Jazz Consortium guise. The LP explicitly showaces his adept ability to craft material for EP’s as well as long players and documents the progression of his sound – seamlessly marrying free jazz, experimental house and dub techno together.
Behind the decks he successfully adapts his production style to DJ-ing, exploring a variety of moods and grooves that are equally at home in intimate venues as they are on bigger stages and the Studio Spaces Loft is the perfect canvas for an artist of his calibre to create an unforgettable soundtrack to this Saturday night. As per usual Make Me residents Rubin, Rupes and Nic Baird will be setting the tone for Fred’s ethereal transmissions with their broad musical taste that consistently bring out the best in the bespoke Funktion 1 system, supplied by the ever-dependable Sound Services.
