Karma – Her Touch

HER_TOUCH.jpgLabel: CYN MusicRelease: Out Now

With so much high quality music released over the course of 12 months in D&B as a new artist it can be difficult to make yourself standout from the crowd. No such problems for Karma though. After coming to my attention with his scene stealing remix of Dimension’s last single All I Need, the Isle of Wight native has properly linked up with Cyantific’s imprint and opens his account with his stunning debut single, Her Touch

A soulful and jazzy rolling workout, Her Touch shows Karma has a deft touch for creating music with feeling. It’s the sort of liquid sound that is sadly lacking at times in drum and bass; melodic, warm yet with enough drive to make it perfect for listening or drawing in the dance. The vocals are a complete compliment to its sonic backing, sitting perfectly amongst the bass and percussion. A glorified vibe bringer if ever I heard one, even in the bleakness of October.

To further highlight his diversity, Karma doesnt let you get too complacent on Salute. Going off in different sound direction entirely, this one is a bass laden stepper of the highest order. Warping textured bass bounces off the minimal shuffling breaks and precise snare drum snaps. There’s always room for well produced, no frills beats like these in my book, Salute fully reminds me of S.P.Y. and Kasra’s effort Surface which should never ever been seen as a bad thing.

All in all a strong showing from Karma on his opening salvo of music for CYN. Two contrasting cuts but both smack of someone who’s put in a lot of time and effort into getting all the elements right. Which is certainly been achieved. It would be unfair to pick one track over the other as both have gotten equal amount of air time. So go invest and get some good Karma. One to watch out for I’m sure.
