Context Audio present their next Various Artists comp in the form of ‘Per Ardua II’, the second in their ‘Per Ardua’ series. Taking its name from the Latin for “Through Endeavour” the ‘Per Ardua’ series aims to explore different sonic territory from the usual mainstay and to delve deeper into the rich strata that make up 170bpm music.
Taking several years to curate, they have carefully selected eight tunes that, while from different producers, all share strong thematic elements. All parts melodic, gentle and emotive, the eight tracks are each a celebration of everything that 170bpm music can achieve and a reminder that drum and bass doesn’t just have to be about processed breaks and huge basslines.

The elusive Nerv, also known as Shaun Goulding, comes from Bristol, but is also a well-seasoned traveller, having seen much of the world and its mysteries. He brings much of that experience into his production, which leans heavily towards the intricate, yet powerful. His productions have a real depth that contradicts his relatively young age and is a sure sign of great things to come. It’s that production that has landed him releases on the likes of Lifestyle Music, Modular Carnage, Terreract Recordings, Boey Audio.
Now Nerv steps up to Context Audio with his contribution to the LP. We premiere his track ‘Parallel Heart’ which takes you on a beautiful, soulful liquid journey. A haunting melody runs through the track while the rolling bassline entices you to lose yourself for 5 and a half minutes…it’s like a sirens call, beckoning to you.
One to watch and definitely one to listen to, Nerv encompasses everything that’s wicked about underground D&B producers.
