Set for release on September 2nd seminal British electronic label Warp Records have revealed details of Mark Pritchard’s new EP on the label. Entitled ‘Lock Off’ the work will be the second EP of a trio on the imprint that are set for release before dropping a full album on us in early 2014.
A slightly rougher edged set of tracks, it is hard to tell whether or not if the sound of ‘Lock Off’ will serve as a telling precursor to his upcoming LP next year. The lead ‘1234’ track hosts the vocal talents of prominent MC’s the Ragga Twins in a move we’re told pays homage’s to the current influx of 90’s sounds into contemporary music. A selection of productions exploring a 160/80bpm axis of footwork, jungle and rave the EP represents the eclectic nature of Mark who over the years has worked under a plethora of different guises as he releases across a wide spectrum of genres but now all of All his production styles have now come together under one name as he explains “I write different styles of music all the time and they didn’t necessarily fit the project that was happening at that moment. By using my name it leaves me open to releasing more diverse styles of music at any point, not just having to wait for the correct project.”
