Andy Lakey returns to Jackie Knows Karate Records with ‘Mantra’ EP

Andy Lakey returns to Jackie Knows Karate Records with his latest offering ‘Mantra’. A two-track tech fuelled EP which brings Lakey’s signature hypnotic synths and rolling basslines to the label.

Andy Lakey is a DJ with an ear for what sounds good, a spinner that knows exactly what to play and when to play it. Andy takes inspiration from a wide variety of musical genres, sampling everything from Funk, Disco through to House & Techno. His one-of-a-kind DJ sets and releases absorb listeners with an unmatched emotional intensity. After years spent DJing he has got into the studio swing with a string of productions signing over tracks to non-other than legendary DJ’s & House music pioneers Kenny Dope & Todd Terry who endorse his sound.

The release is Lakey’s first solo EP since his track ‘Impulse’ featured on the label’s debut VA. The title track sees a groovy tech beat combined with an infectious synth line and dark vocals that give you an afterparty feel. ‘That Bass Track’ rounds up the EP with a solid bassline filled with a catchy vocal hook of ‘Everybody wants to be cool’. With early support from Glasgow’s own Harvey McKay, Trick Label Boss, Patrick Topping and Shiba San, the EP is shaping up to become a peak time banger.
