403 – Harvey McKay

It’s Monday. We knew this day would come. Whether you spent your weekend having a couple of drinks at your local, or being dragged out on dates by insane 40 year olds before drunk calling a photographer at 4am you met at a festival 2 months ago to tell them you love them, AM back at your desk for another week is never an easy gig.

Help is at hand however. They may have almost escaped our imperial grasp but Scotland can be proud of one thing – producing emerging techno talisman Harvey McKay – whose raw energy and heavy-inertia live sets are steadily bringing the Scot into the techno limelight. In fact – he’s playing in London in just a couple of weeks, at Adam Beyer’s infamous Drumcode Halloween day party. Here he is with an hour of moody, melodic madness to power you through your Monday.

What’s your personal favourite track on it? Really likening that Mondano track at the moment, play that one almost every set. What’s the special ingredient in this mix? Groovy driving techno with a touch of soul. What’s the best gig you’ve played recently? Lots of good one’s recently. Drumcode Island NYC and then Coda in Toronto the same day was pretty wild 🙂 hectic but fun day What have you got coming up? Gig wise it’s pretty hectic, October is jam packed. Also playing Drumcode’s infamous Halloween party on the first of November, and my next EP ‘Amen’ on Bedrock is out mid November, so lots happening 🙂And finally, do you have a special message for our readers? Haha rave safe kids :ppp tracklist 1. Harvey McKay _  Cry Wolf 2. Macromism _ Mondano 3. Dosem _ Cityscapes 4. Pig & Dan Albetro Ruiz _ Sphere 5. Skober _ Membrane 6. ———- 7. Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
