Surgence returns to Voyage Music with ‘Detached’ EP

Surgence is a relatively new name in the scene but he’s definitely not new to the game. He is member of the British reggae dance act Dreadzone and has over 14 years of experience in music production.

Surgence has been releasing music under other monikers since 2007, on labels such as Modular Carnage Recordings, Subplate Recs, Voyage Music and inHabit Recordings. His first release as Surgence came via Subplate Recordings in May 2019, shortly followed by his ‘Shapeshift’ EP on Voyage Music. His music has been supported by ourselves, SkankandBass and DNBDojo. He also has an alias Bazil which he has released music under on Dispatch and Flexout Audio.

His influences range from Stakka and SkynetKonflict, Virus Recordings and Teebee to name a few. His own take on the sound ranges from deep, dark, atmospheric, funk and techy Drum & Bass.

Voyage Music was born from a bi-weekly radio show broadcast featuring longtime California, USA., based DJ’s Senator aka Philip Rush and Dave DJM on www.jungletrain.net. The label commissioned its first full music release from Saxxon and Calculon, entitled ‘Alley Girl’, with a remix from Bazil. Since then, Voyage Music has grown to release Drum & Bass from producers such as Survival, Surgence, Shamanga, Dose, Confusious, FX909, Neve, DNN, Dubsky, Magnafide, St.Iff, and Cooops. You can expect a wide range of Drum & Bass on Voyage Music, from darker tech to liquid, jungle to half step, and everything in between.

Now, Surgence returns to Voyage Music with his new EP entitled ‘Detached’. Consisting of four huge tracks this EP is a must for any Drum & Bass DJ’s arsenal. Our premiere is ‘Unrest’, which falls in the middle of the EP and would undoubtedly destroy dancefloors across the world, given the chance. Dark jungle vibes are in full force, and the bassline is wicked! I would love to experience this in the car park at Tobacco Dock or the dark room at Printworks or some dark and dingy club where the walls are damp with condensation and sweat.

Check out ‘Unrest’ below. The ‘Detached’ EP drops on 26th February, be sure you grab a copy from here
