Renegade Riddims: MILA207

Share

Emília Varga, also known as MILA207, entered the world in 1987, in Prešov. Growing up in the Ostrava region until age 15, she later returned to Slovakian soil to pursue her musical education.

Initially focused on classical singing at the Conservatory in Bratislava, Emília furthered her studies in Opera at the esteemed Academy of Performing Arts (VŠMU). Despite finding success in these classical pursuits, her heart was drawn to electronic music and contemporary artistic expression.

In March 2013, urged by her close friend DJ Beaty, MILA207 embarked on her journey as an MC/vocalist, marking her debut at one of the prominent Drum & Bass events, Hospitality Slovakia.

Swiftly transcending stages in the Czech and Slovak Drum & Bass scene, MILA207 graced renowned events like Let It Roll, Blackout Night, Let It Snow, and Trident parties. Motherhood and the pandemic momentarily paused her meteoric rise, during which she honed her DJing skills at lfo.sk, evolving into MC/DJ MILA207.

Her DJ debut at Prague’s iconic Cross Club sparked performances at major festivals like Let It Roll, Beats For Love and Colours Of Ostrava, alongside intimate open-air gatherings and club performances.

Among her favoured venues are the Fabric Club in Ostrava and Prague’s Storm Club, where her synergy with sound engineers elevates her performances. However, the now-defunct Účko club (SubClub) in Bratislava holds an indelible place in her heart, having hosted countless memorable moments.

MILA207’s sonic footprint spans collaborations with artists like Jimmy Danger (UK), Dephzac (SK), Metalwork (UK), Duhan (SK), Space Cats (SK), and Macho (SK). Her resonant voice has graced Slovakian radio_FM and various Drum & Bass podcasts, paving the way for her upcoming solo EP, ‘Deep & Dark’ which was released on October 6, 2023, via German label UTM (Urge To Move Rec.) based in Dresden.

Not confining herself to Drum & Bass, MILA207 delves into Techno music, co-founding the project Proppa Rave alongside Beaty, promising more sonic explorations on the horizon. Her Techno DJ endeavours, are predominantly showcased in LIVE projects, meld singing, rapping, and instrumental prowess—a rarity in the CZ-SK scene.

Beyond her musical prowess, Emília engages in multifaceted collaborations with entities such as Let It Roll, Imagination, Trident and international labels like Korsakov, Blackout, and Eatbrain. She remains actively involved as the CEO of DNBWEAR, a project she has nurtured from its inception, close to her heart.
