Alibi join DARKMTTR with ‘Another Chance’ EP

Share

DARKMTTR Records is delighted to announce the four-track ‘Another Chance’ EP from Drum & Bass duo Alibi whose sound fits in perfectly with the DARKMTTR aesthetic: dreamy and space-infused and 100% for the dance floor.

Alibi’s productions span dark and heavy to sunlit liquid, and have appeared on labels such as Hospital, SUNANDBASS Recordings, Audioporn and more. Their home label is the legendary V Recordings who released their debut album, ‘Said & Done’, back in 2018. Weaving together threads from the duo’s shared funk, soul, reggae, and hip hop influences with the Drum & Bass tutelage of shared heroes like S.P.Y., Calibre, Marcus Intalex and more, it marked the culmination of their musical vision thus far.

Now they continue to be hard at work in the studio with follow-up projects for V, collaborations with some scene heavyweights and an ever-increasing DJ diary. Drawing together their individual musicality, dancefloor energy, and boundary-stretching versatility, Alibi are one of the most exciting prospects in Drum & Bass.

‘It Could Be’ is the first track off the EP and features a haunting intro which builds into some heavily distorted bass and a pitched-up vocal. A tidy bass-laden roller suitable for any dance.

Alibi introduces ‘Soundsystem’ with various mystical sounds, which slowly build as new elements are added. More rolling baselines and some Bambaataa breaks add an extra edge to the tune.

Getting heavy now with ‘Ruthless’. Very steppy beats (think Jonny L) lead into a sizzling dark baseline. Mix that with a spooky atmosphere and you have a total killer.

On the title track, ‘Another Chance’ Alibi wrap lovely pads around stunning amen breaks and atmosphere. A highly uplifting spiritual and totally danceable example of Drum & Bass. Beautiful.

Today we premiere ‘It Could Be’ which you can check out below. The ‘Another Chance’ EP dropped on Friday 29th July so make sure you grab yourself a copy from here!
