Kim Ann Foxman remixes Galen’s ‘Fear From Your Mind’ on Culprit

Delving deeper into the well of homegrown talent, Culprit releases an exciting EP from San Francisco’s Galen. Long established as one of the key players in the Californian underground dance music landscape with his vaunted Sunset Sound System event series, Galen Abbott steps out as an artist in his own right. Years spent working with some of the House music’s most legendary DJs has helped Galen develop a discerning taste backed by the confidence that show on “Sensory Distortion.”

On the EP’s three originals – and the track on the just-released “Above the City vol. 6” compilation – Galen’s deep roots in and respect for the Acid and Deep House traditions shine through. Galen manages to create a thoroughly contemporary context for the classic feel of the EP, an ability that places his music right in Culprit’s sweet spot.

The doyenne of New York’s underground scene and an artist of truly global repute, Kim Ann Foxman makes her first bow on the Los Angeles label with an outstanding acid-inflected rework that is a sure floor mover.

We premiere Kim Ann Foxman’s remix on Data Transmission, check it out here and grab it here.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
