The Playground brings dance legends to Koko
The Playground returns to London’s Koko Saturday August 16th, bringing two scene-shaping artists amongst a host of other top talent. In the world of electronic music, they don’t come much more influential than, Derrick May. A member of the Belleville Three, May helped develop a new futuristic style of house, otherwise known as techno. His first release, 1987’s ‘Nude Photo’, helped kickstart the Detroit scene, whilst his seminal ‘Strings of Life’ the following year, exploded in the UK, gaining critical acclaim from the legendary Frankie Knuckles.Joining May at Koko is yet another pioneer, this time from the UK. A Guy Called Gerald was a key player in the acid house movement and helped lay the foundations of jungle and drum & bass, making this a truly unmissable night. Alongside these two giants of the industry, the stellar line-up also features Barem, Richard Fearless (Death In Vegas), French Kiwi Juice (live) and Last Magpie, with more acts still to be announced.Tickets are on sale now, available below:
