Label: Cat For LunchScore: 8/10
For those in the know, Italian label Cat For Lunch has long been considered a reliable staple for those seeking considerate and delicate tech-house tackle. The label’s 15th release comes from returning German producer Pazul; a dab hand at exactly that. On the three tracks that he lays out here, he emphatically weaves a tale that’s brimming with goodness, with 2 originals and a fitting remix all vying for our attention.
Leading us in is the sounds of ‘Flight’, a track that really does take the listener on the proverbial journey its title alludes to. Dark, deep and dexterous, it’s a smashing little number whereby the atmospheric vibes really shine through. ‘Lucky Twist’ is a cheekier number with its fiery synths and its pitched-back, ravey stabs the end result. Dramatic and engrossing, it’s also symbolic of the EP’s finest hour. Finally, Mark De Pulse introduces us to a remix that brings us back to the minimal days of yore. Hypnotic and beguiling, it’s the proverbial cherry on top of what’s a very tasty cake.
