Since first bursting on to the scene a few years ago now thanks to his affiliation with Luciano’s Cadenza imprint, Lee van Dowski has quickly emerged as one of Switzerland’s most treasured and consistent house exports. On his latest EP, he locks horns with Maltese producer Dean Demanuele, with Mobilee the choice of label this time around.
An imprint with an agenda that’s in line with van Dowski’s own way of working, together, this trio make for a very snug fit indeed. The release in question is called The Impossible, and it’s a worthy contender for the producer’s best work for some time.
The first of an impressive four originals is the title track itself. A refreshingly spirited sojourn that brings us on a journey straight to the depths of warm and discerning house music, it’s an early highlight and neatly sets us up for what’s in store. The action comes thick and fast from this point onwards, with ”Crossing the T” a beguiling little gem that’ll make dancefloors move wherever it’s let off the chain. Full of energy, it explodes into a kaleidoscope of colour by the time the vocal wrecks havoc. ”Put Your Shoes On” sticks to a pretty rugged and strict script, before ”Inside Out” brings us on a journey that’s stuffed with stifling percussion. If this is only the start for this pairing, then we already look forward to what else is in store.
