First names announced for Pukkelpop 2013

While spring seems to be playing hide-and-seek outside, a warm summer breeze is wafting through the Pukkelpop offices already. Their first confirmations are in and they couldn’t wait to share them with you, who can blame them when you look at the line-up

After 35 albums and hundreds of shows, from Woodstock to Werchter, Neil Young hasn’t lost any of his amazing energy. No wonder, since the whole rock world adores him! Backed by his long-time band Crazy Horse, he’ll be coming to rock in the free world that is Pukkelpop. On Saturday, the Pukkelpop meadows will be basking in the achingly beautiful sounds of The XX. Acclaimed in 2010 as the definitive discovery of the festival, they are back this year to whisk you off into their dream world of exquisite vocals, fragile guitars, deep bass tracks and perfectly timed beats. Also there sre the dance pioneers of The Prodigy will also be making the trek to Hasselt this summer. Mastermind Liam Howlett, MC Maxim and rabble-rouser Keith Flint absolutely guarantee a show somewhere between a dazzling dance party and a wild punk show. Incredible how tight and fresh these veterans still sound amidst the recent trend toward electro and dubstep! Sitting back and staying off the dance floor isn’t very likely this year. Dance master Boys Noize will be coming to the Boiler Room, and trap heroes like TNGHT and Baauer will also be joining the party. Other purveyors of the better class of beats: SBTRKT DJ set, Zeds Dead, Maya Jane Coles, The Parov Stelar Band, Julio Bashmore, Ben Pearce, Totally Enormous Extinct Dinosaurs, Foreign Beggars, Friction, Proxy, Duke Dumont, Redlight, Wilkinson, TC, Hazard and Toddla T Sound. That’s Pukkelpop 2013… and it’s only the start. They’ll be back with more new names even sooner than you expect…
