Croatian Festival Guide 2013
Guaranteed sunshine. The worlds hottest DJ’s and live acts. Boat parties on crystal clear waters and chilled out crowds. These are just some of the things Croatia’s Dalmatian Coast has become known for in the last few years as the festival scene has exploded in the Balkans and more and more festival goers head east for a less expensive view of paradise this summer. From Echo in Early June to Dimensions in September Croatia’s Adriatic coastline really does seem to have it all, with even the worlds biggest Dance festival Franchise Ultra sitting up and taking notice as they touch down in Split this July. So with Croatia firmly establishing itself as a genuine alternative to Ibiza and Miami this year we decided to compile a guide to keep you in the loop with all the coolest things occuring on the Dalmatian Coast this summer.
Once upon a time, direct flights to Croatia from the UK weren’t plentiful at all; those that did exist were rather expensive – no low-cost airlines flew to the country, so there was little competition and fares were relatively pricey. Back in those limited times, we often recommended to travellers that they should utilise low-cost flights to nearby countries (such as Italy, Austria and Hungary) and then make their way over to Croatia by bus, train or ferry.
These days, travellers don’t really have the same problem. There are many direct flights from the UK (at least, in summer!) to almost all of the major airports in Croatia.
