Katorzi joins the Spotlight Mix Series

Guille Katorzi is a Brazilian musician, DJ, and producer based in Bogotá, Colombia. He started his musical career playing bass in an MTV award-winning indie rock band in São Paulo in the early 2000’s, before moving to the Philippines for three years, playing the guitar in a local hip-hop group and DJing as ‘Funky Jesus’.

Establishing himself in Bogotá in 2018 with a desire to connect deeper with Latin and electronic music scenes, Katorzi brought his trademark groovy swagger to parties across the city playing classic 70’s funk and dancefloor-driven Brazilian and Afro disco.

In late 2020, Katorzi signed a long-term record deal with Norway’s PuzzleProjectsMusic, with popular tracks ‘Skidum’ and ‘Take The Heat’, inspired by lesser-known Brazilian music, creating disco cuts infused with African and Latin percussion. In early 2022, he released ‘Last Girl’, a collaboration with award-winning UK Blues singer Katie Bradley; and remixed ‘Don’t Stop’ for Mexican disco-don Hotmood. As a DJ Katorzi currently holds residencies at Mad Radio Club and Espacio KB in Bogotá.

Katorzi returns to PuzzleProjectsMusic for his third release on the label with ‘The Funk Is Real’ EP – a superb three-track EP turbo-charged with his signature funky flavours, showcasing his exemplary production skills and natural born propensity for the funk, the whole funk and nothing but the funk! Across the EP Katorizi breathes new life into the scene, with his innovative live jam improvisation approach, creating 3 irresistible dance-floor ready party jams that join the musical dots between Disco, Funk and Indie Dance, armed with superb funked-up bass grooves, his own quirky vocals (and rap), infectious live drums, wild keys, groovy guitars and 80’s inspired synth slaying electronica, primed to rock the party.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
