John Rolodex drops ‘Pistolero’ on Machinist Music

Share

John Rolodex prepares to drop his latest single ‘Pistolero’ on his Machinist Music imprint and with it comes a slightly different scope on the release details. This comes in the shape of a short story…

[PISTOLERO]

FADE IN:

EXT. [A SMALL WILD WEST TOWN AT HIGH NOON]

[ACTION] A calm ordinary day in a wild west town north of the border. Children play on the boardwalk in front of the shops. Horses are tied to hitching posts.

A Ferrier can be heard shaping horseshoes. Settlers come and go from the general store with provisions. The Sangre de Cristo Mountains can be seen in the distance. A sign hangs reading “SHERIFF WANTED”.

CUT TO PISTOLERO riding into town slowly on a black horse.

He dismounts in front of the saloon and calmly tethers his horse to the hitching post. Merriment and piano music can be heard from inside. His spurs jangle as he walks through the saloon doors.

INT. [THE SALOON]

DAWSON looks up from his card game.

[DAWSON O.S.] You’ve got a lot of nerve walking in here with that can opener on your waist.

A hush falls upon the room. The piano player stops playing.

[PISTOLERO O.S.] The notice in my saddle bag says Clyde Dawson A.K.A. Coyote Clyde, wanted dead or alive by the Sheriff of Daviess County, Missouri. The description is a spittin’ image.

[CARD CHEAT O.S.] I seen that notice. Lone stars o’ plenty meetin’ that description ’round here. Anyway, the last hombre came spoutin’ such foolishness is with the undertaker. I suggest you give the barkeep your irons unless you got the bulge to test my mettle.

Another gambler spits tobacco on the floor. Pistolero and Dawson eye each other across the saloon.

CUT TO EXT. THE MAIN STREET

The town folk line the street outside the saloon in silence. The wind blows a tumbleweed across the frame. Pistolero and Dawson eye each other. Their hands twitch by their sides. A church bell tolls. Pistolero draws first.

Exquisitely-cut clattering breakbeats are fired from his sidearm.

Dawson falls…
