Renegade Riddims: Kaizah

Based out of London, and co-founder and resident DJ of Bass Camp LDN, Kaizah has had a stellar couple of years so far having released on the likes of Korsakov, YANA, Boey Audio, Invicta Audio and Bass Rabbit Recordings, to name a few! 

Taking inspiration from fellow UK artists Tantrum Desire, Delta Heavy and Dimension, Kaizah is hoping to make his own mark on the scene in the coming years with his wide-ranging styles of Drum & Bass, stretching from the lighter dancefloor vibes of ‘Get Down’ and ‘About You’, to his heavier bass driven releases, such as ‘When The Drum Rolls’ and ‘Seppuku’. His music has so far garnered support from the likes of Toronto Is Broken, Event Horizon, Aduken, Premonition, Dan Aux, Kane FM and more. 

Fresh off the back of a packed-out 2022, Kaizah has a lot more in store for 2023 with forthcoming releases on Device Records and YANA Music, as well as his debut EP dropping on Phase Records, all later this summer.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

I’ll shamelessly use this as self-promo and say my upcoming single and opening track, Velocity, coming out on Device Records next month! Absolutely loved crafting this one with the exceptionally talented Premonition and Em Roe.

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

Tell us about your next EP?

I take a bit of a departure from my usual sound into darker territory with my upcoming and debut EP on Phase Records, The Hunt. Inspired by the sounds of Bou, Basstripper, Tantrum Desire, and featuring collaborations with SCALEZ and The Landlord – I am excited for you guys to hear this, dropping in June!

What have you got coming up?

I’m glad you asked. April is a busy one for me with my festival debut at Spring Break Amsterdam supporting Chase & Status! Following this, I’ve got a packed weekend of sets in London and Bristol on the 21st and 22nd, for MYKOOL’s album launch and for my brand Bass Camp’s takeover featuring Tantrum Desire – come on down if you’re local!

When was the last time you actually raved?

At the time of writing, I saw a huge set by Netsky at Outernet last Friday. And I’m heading to Andy C at the O2 this coming Friday (7th April) which is guaranteed to be a memorable one! Also hoping to cop tickets for the final Printworks weekend tomorrow! So it’s safe to say I go a lot on!

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

This is probably my cleanest and most eclectic mix to date, so I hope you enjoy the set as much as I enjoyed making it!
