Renegade Riddims: Jamm:n

Carl Chivers aka Jamm:n has been around since the 90s and was at the birth of Jungle and Drum & Bass. He was the manager of a well-known record store that was home to Fusion working alongside Hardcore legends VinylGroover and Ramos. At that time it was very hard to break out playing what was then a niche genre but he managed to do so and was active all over the UK. He has played alongside most of the big Drum & Bass playaz and at nearly all the top organizations. He owned and produced on Explosive Vinyl, ran club nights in Portsmouth and as such was very much implanted in the scene. Life got in the way, he settled down, had children etc and even though he never truly left Drum & Bass music or the scene, he did have to leave the work side of things…playing out and producing.

Just short of a year ago, Jamm:n got fully back into the scene and hit the ground running right away with radio shows, his own Bunker DnB Business streams,  DJing and started his own label JamDown Recordings.

The scene is a whole different place these days, but my love for the music is still there,. I’d even go as far as to say, more so now. It’s not a job for me these days, it’s a hobby, a pastime and what comes of this second round who knows. One thing I do know is you can expect some good things from me in 2022…
