Renegade Riddims: Glitch City

Glitch City hit the scene in 2016 after being announced as the first signing on The Prototypes‘ label Get Hype Records. His debut single ‘Black Hole Skank’ was supported on UKF after receiving its exclusive first play from former BBC Radio 1‘s DJ Friction.

After a stream of heavy releases on Get Hype, he ventured on to producing dancefloor anthems for Technique Recordings, Viper Recordings and RAM‘s sister label ProgRAM, and has been steadily building a reputation for explosive dancefloor weaponry. His label, Amusement Audio was launched in 2015, where subsequent releases can be found.

Glitch City has acclaimed DJ support from the likes of Andy C, Sub Focus, Matrix & Futurebound, Sigma, Calyx & Teebee and of course The Prototypes. Standout tracks include ‘Funk Flex’, the uniquely grimey ‘Spider’s Web’ and the undeniably monstrous remix of Matrix & Futureound’s ‘Tardis’.

He has performed at clubs and festivals worldwide and most honourably…held a residency at fabric nightclub in London. He has also featured on DJSS‘ World Of Drum & Bass USA Tour.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

There’s a remix of one of my tracks under my previous alias, it’s called “Shells”. The CPTL PNSHMNT lads from Puerto Rico put a stonking twist on it, and I love it!

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

Versatility. Mixing different styles – from the old to the new, commercial & underground flavours, bootlegs, remixes, dubs and a few unfinished pieces (LOL)

Tell us about your next EP?

I’m writing two EPs before the year is out, I’ll tell you more about them soon 😉

What have you got coming up? 

I’m off to the states in April to play a few shows in Miami & Orlando. There’s a collab single with Puppetz forthcoming Biological Beats, and a remix competition release of one of my tracks that came out on Love That Bass.

When was the last time you actually raved?

I poked my head into E1 last month and checked out the Alix Perez 1985 takeover. I can’t say I did much raving, but that was close as it got!

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?

Thanks to DT for the opportunity. I hope everyone is digging the new sounds from me and the Amusement Audio camp. I’m in the process of building the website to centralise everything, so watch this space!
