Renegade Riddims: Altered Concept

Formally known as LDT but recently changed to Altered Concept, an artist currently not well known, however, since his ‘Menace’ EP landed, we are almost certain that he is on the way to achieving amazing things in his Drum & Bass career. He is an artist who not only strives for perfection within track writing but also an artist who has an amazing ear for the groove in his tracks.

The Guildford-based producer has been working incredibly hard on his craft with the help of close mates Able, Gingy P, and Simula to reach the production standard that he has achieved to date. With heavy inspiration from the likes of Molecular, Ill Truth, Able, and DLR you can already tell what vibe he will be bringing to the table.

Altered Concept’s most recent release ‘Menace’ EP came out on Yamatai Records last month with great success. Utilizing clean and crisp drums and addictive basses, he has created a really cool EP. Using all the knowledge he has gained on track writing and production techniques from some of the best artists in the scene has helped him massively with this EP.

Now he joins our Renegade Riddims series with an equally well-executed mix. It features music from the likes of himself, Break, DLR, Molecular, Nymfo, Hoax, Particle, Koherent, Dunk and loads more!

Sum up this mix in 10 words…

It perfectly reflects my production & mixing style, vibe and energy.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?

My personal favourite track In the mix has to be Molecular – Acid Funk. As a lot of people know I take a lot of inspiration from Molecular and the Sofa Sound style in my own production and Acid Funk is a prime example as to why I do, the funk, the high energy and weight this tune carries is unmatched, Much like many of his tunes!

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?

Ah, I’ve gotta say the special ingredient to this mix and any of my mixes/sets to that matter is funk & energy!

Tell us about your next EP?

I have nothing set in stone as of yet. But I am currently working on quite an exciting project which I will reveal in the new year at some point! I will of course be pushing my music out as much as possible to various labels I have in mind and I’m incredibly happy to say I will be working more with the Yamatai Recordings crew a lot more in the near future!

What have you got coming up?

As I said in my previous answer, I’m currently working on a project which will be revealed soon, alongside that, I have a few bookings coming up, I also hold a residency at Thirty3hz Nightclub in my local town – Guildford, Surrey. I also co-own an events brand ‘Bass Science’ so will be putting in a lot of work in the new year to keep elevating the brand!

When was the last time you actually raved?

It actually wasn’t too long ago, a few of us took a trip to Bristol to catch the Hospitality x Critical event at Motion a few weeks ago, which was an absolutely wicked night, always love the vibes in Bris!
