DT793 – HNQO

Coming up in the warm streets and long nights of Curitiba, Brazil, guided by the voices of Kool Herc, Grandmaster Flash and Afrika Bambaataa among other icons from the Hip Hop culture is HNQO.

Immediately appealing for the way it took cues from history but looked to the future, the Brazillian HNQO found favour with people at influential labels like Hot Creations, Defected, and OFF Recordings and lead to some key EPs that were fresh, warm and full of genuine feelings as well as his full album released on Kompakt’s Brazillian sub-label D.O.C that connected with people on a deeper level, followed by shows at festivals like Time Warp, DGTL, Rock In Rio, Apenkooi and some important clubs over more than30 countries.

HNQO continues to bring his touch with a real sense of soul, funk and fun as well as displaying some assured studio skills, riddled with charming energy that is buoyant, underground and appealing.

Today, he joins us on the podcast for the first time. Listen to it below, on Mixcloud or iTunes here.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
