DT782 – Christian Nielsen

Share

Danish DJ and producer Christian Nielsen is a rare commodity in the world of House and Techno. While other producers might pander to the masses, Nielsen, never opts for a novelty approach, instead of carving his own successful niche in a constant jostle for dance floor play.

Danish producer, Christian Nielsen is an artist who has seemed to come out of nowhere. Working in an office by day and developing his musical craft by night. That said, his sound is a classic one, and one which has already made him popular – most notably on Ellum, Kompakt and Of Unsound MindNielsen, however, is no flash in the pan, and is a producer who knows his way around the studio and has evolved musically buying tracks and studying legends like Kerri Chandler, Jimpster, Mr. V, Master At Work, Larry Heard, Moodymann and the late Frankie Knuckles.

A firm advocate of dance-floor ready house, Nielsen is one of the most interesting producers to arrive on our radar for some time, and if you’re a fan of electronic music, then you’ll no doubt be aware that we’re dealing with a man who’s stock is firmly on the rise.

Today, he return to The Podcast, today. Listen to it below, on Mixcloud or iTunes here.

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
When I DJ I love playing all sorts of genres.

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
Dusky’s track is so amazing! Huge fan of Dusky!

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
How I like to build up a set.

Tell us about your next EP?
During COVID I really had a hard time finding inspiration to create something I really liked. I really felt like I was forcing it a bit. After a little hiatus I got back in the studio and this was the first EP that came out of it. And I really have to give it up to Maceo for again picking demos that really represent me as an artist and my range.

What have you got coming up?
I have a 2 track EP coming up on Skream’s Of Unsound Mind also called my second home 🙂

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
After a long pandemic, I’m really looking forward to seeing you all again under happier circumstances and feel all the good vibes and energy of the dancefloor

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
