459 – Mumbai Science

This Halloween, as the stars align and the universe’s many moons cross paths, we know we’re certain of one thing: we’re in the mood to get freaky. No, we’ve not gone all Rick James on you – although we’d admit that’d make an awesome costume – we’re talking about getting our groove on as all you guys and ghouls come out to play and so wanted an extra special podcast to soundtrack this spookiest of weeks. Step forward: Mumbai Science who having just released their new single ‘Black Hole’ – complete with a remix from none other than Detroit techno legend, Robert Hood under his Floorplan alias – step up to the plate to deliver a mix of serious distinction.

Exploring a wide range of the best cuts house and techno have to offer, the mix sees the Belgian duo journey through a variety of upbeat numbers numbers that have had us cutting some serious shapes as we dance around the office. We can’t imagine a better way to start the week – well we can but it’s illegal in 56 countries and you’d need a pelican, a couple of supermodels and a fighter jet.  So in the absence of these readily available items we’ll settle for this weighty set of selections. All aboard the Mumbai Express!

Sum up this podcast in 10 words…
Our new track, Floorplan remix and music we love. Cats!

What’s your personal favourite track on it?
We’re pretty proud of the Floorplan remix, it means a lot getting remixed by such a legend. The new Dr Lektroluv track is also a lot of fun to play out! Heavy vibes!

What’s the special ingredient in this mix?
The Sfire track gives it the right amount of fun and weirdness. Two very essential things for the dancefloor! Get weird and have fun!

What’s the best gig you’ve played recently?
It’s hard to pick a favourite. We get a different vibe in every city we go to. It’s all about working with the energy you get. Small club or big festival, the last crowd we played for is always our favourite!

What have you got coming up?
We have 2 more EPs in the works! Coming out in spring and summer 2016

And finally, do you have a special message for our readers?
Get weird and have fun! Seriously!

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
