White Claw and Defected Records’ Find Your People experiment brings 10 strangers together in Ibiza

Share

White Claw and Defected Records have completed Find Your People, a social experiment exploring whether the dancefloor can turn strangers into lifelong friends. The brands describe the project as the first of its kind. Working with social community app Cliq, they matched 10 like-minded strangers and flew them to Ibiza for 24 hours.

Applications opened on 30th July and closed on 13 stAugust 2026, with entry open to UK residents aged 25 and over. To apply, hopefuls joined Cliq and uploaded a short video explaining why they wanted to take part.

The group had never met before the trip. Over the course of the day, they shared music, dancing, and the island’s culture. According to White Claw and Defected, the outcome showed that house music can create genuine connections between strangers.

Find Your People forms part of White Claw’s wider campaign against what the brand calls the “friendship recession”. The brand is aiming to create 50,000 new friendships this summer. The experiment set out to answer one question: Can dance music create connections that last a lifetime?

The day began with a White Claw x Defected villa takeover. DJammin, part of the Defected and Mas Tiempo family, played b2b with Dutch DJ Joëlla Jackson. Afterwards, the group moved on to Chinois Ibiza for a night with Defected, where new friendships continued to form on the dancefloor.

Simon Dunmore founded Defected Records in 1999. The label has been part of Ibiza’s club scene since 2003, holding residencies at venues across the island.

The campaign is set against what White Claw describes as a friendship recession. According to the brand, the number of adults with no close friends has quadrupled, while the number with ten or more close friends has fallen by almost three times. In response, White Claw has invested in bringing people together through shared interests.
