RBMA Tokyo Share Mumdance Mix
That’s it. We’re booking flights to Tokyo. Everyone here at DT from the office cat to the cleaner has been jealously following the various goings on within the Japanese capital as Red Bull Music Academy rolled into town. Making us long for a jaunt to the Far East today has been RBMA’s sharing of a new mix from UK bass maverick Mumdance recorded live in Tokyo.
Mumdance has been around for a while now – with releases on Mad Decent, No Hats No Hoods and Southern Fried Records – fusing his signature hardware synth sounds and riddims with abstract urban tropes to devastating effect. These signifiers were particularly exemplified on 2013’s ‘Twists and Turns’ free mixtape, (cop that now if you haven’t already) a release that garnered critical acclaim across the board for it inventive use of sounds and design, reimagining the techno studio for the grime scene and beyond.
Following that Mumdance has had quite a 2014, with the DJ and producer tearing up dancefloor’s and radio waves with his abstract interpretations of grime and underground, hardcore continuum based bass music. In short we’re quite the fans and think that you should be too. Don’t believe us? Check out his RBMA Tokyo mix below.
