We love Matt ‘Radio Slave’ Edwards here at DT. One of electronic music’s true experimentalists; a man rooted in house and techno whose influences draw from across the musical spectrum. From his releases on his own label Rekids to his work on other imprints the variety and poise of Radio Slave have always been something that have sought to push boundaries and advance the scene.

Thus we were excited to hear of his appointment to one of our favorite long running series in helming the latest Balance compilation with a lot promised in his two part incarnation of the series which looks set to starkly differ from his aggressively stripped back Fabric 48 Mix.  As Matt explains himself:

The idea of a double disc is something that totally suits me down to the ground as I’m interested in so many types of music. So with the Balance compilation I knew I’d have to take one mix in a clubbier direction and then the second disc would be all about showcasing tracks from my favourite producers and creating an environment for home listening that isn’t just wallpaper.”

He cites Future Sound Of London’s Kiss FM sessions and DJ Harvey’s Sarcastic as inspirational DJ mixes, both visionaries in their own way and getting us suitably hyped for what he’s going to produce!

To give you a hint of sounds to come check out his latest work on his own imprint with Mr. G and Prins Thomas!

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
