Premiere: Jody Barr – Erotic Sally

Share

Continuing to move from strength to strength, Jody Barr continues to roll out his own Portable Minds label and readies the third instalment in the catalogue.

So far his project has garnered considerable support with the first and second releases on the label being picked up by the likes of Eats Everything, Laurent Garnier and George Fitzgerald. Now – the auspicious Londoner kicks off 2017 with a solo two-track release in much the same vein as its predecessors – galvanised House and Techno crossovers designed with nothing but the dancefloor in mind.

Our debut transmission ‘Erotic Sally’ kicks things off with searing sweeps and blobs of acid sat atop a persistent, stony march. ‘Screenplay’ then follows up with a more low-slung groove that sets deftly swung hats and off-kilter melodies that set a cold, sinister tone throughout.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
