Soulwax Tease New Material…

As a slightly breathless Data Transmission reported the other day (we’re still uber excited about LCD Soundsystem’s 2016 reunion) there WILL be new Soulwax material arriving over the course of the next 12 months, with the influential Ghent outfit releasing their first slew of fresh content in over a decade this year. Following on from the release of  ‘Nite Versions’ (the dance version of their album ‘Any Minute Now’) the trio have written, composed and produced all the music for new film by Oscar nominated director Felix Van Groningen, who cinephiles will remember for his Oscar nominated flick ‘The Broken Circle Breakdown’.

All the music was recorded and mixed at Soulwax’s new Dewaele studio HQ in Ghent, where every release is mixed and produced (and sometime written and recorded) by Stephen and David Dewaele.

Titled ‘Belgic’ the film promises to tell a no-holds barred tale of two brothers who open a bar in Ghent in 2000 and rapidly become consumed by the Belgian nightclub scene and sees Soulwax’s influence throughout both via the composing, arranging and recording of the original score and the creation of a body of work for each and every one of the fictional musical artists featured.  Offering up a diverse collection of songs, performed by a similarly varied set of artists the release has seen Soulwax create a unique soundtrack that continues to see them evolve as one of music’s leading musical protagonists.

No release date has been given for the release of either the film or soundtrack but we’re told to expect both to land around the beginning of March.
