Music Streaming In The UK Doubled in 2013

Despite famous detractors online streaming services continued to grow at an astonishing rate with a recent report by the Official Charts Company showing that streaming in the UK doubled in 2013 from the previous year.

The study shows that programs such as Spotify and Deezer streamed approximately 7.4 billion tracks last year, dwarfing the previous record of 3.7 billion stream in 2012. Naturally, Daft Punk’s mega hit ‘Get Lucky’ was the most streamed track of the year adding the accolade to breaking the record for longest running number one on Billboards Dance/Electronic chart whilst Avicii’s country/EDM crossover also found itself at number 5 with fellow dance music artists Rudimental, Disclosure and Calvin Harris all making it into the top 40 most streamed songs of the year.
