Mix Of The Day: Exclusive Monty The Fly Mix

If we mentioned the name Sam Smith to you, you’d probably think we were referring to a certain popstar with money on his mind. We’re not. We’re of course talking about British producer Sam Smith aka Monty the Fly, who is crafting the exact blend of considered and abstract house and techno that we so enjoy; the type of music that conjures up a range of contrasting emotions. In this essence, it’s hardly a surprise that he name checks the likes of Baby Ford(who, incidentally, remixed his first EP) as influences, but if we were to define it, we’d say it’s been cut from a similar cloth to the work of Bruno Pronsato, Herbert, Efdemin and Ricardo Villalobos, producers who make music to move the soul – and the soles.

With his latest EP, the stunning Free Three Ways, having just dropped on his own Nothing Odd label, we decided to nab the talents of the Bournemouth native for our Mix Of The Day series and kickstart our weekend.  Check out his exclusive mix for us complete with tracklisting below.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
