Maceo Plex To Take Up DJ Kicks Mantle



Prolific American producer Eric Estornel better known as Maceo Plex has enjoyed a meteoric rise in popularity over the last couple of years, with a string of popular releases and the formation of his own imprint Ellem Audio but enjoyed a particularly  successful 2012 with release on some of years hottest labels such as Crosstown Rebels and No.19 Music. So with a big last year behind him it came as little surprise when he was announced as the first act of 2013 to helm the popular DJ Kicks compilation series.

Maceo Plex has promised his incarnation of the series to be a little different to his usual sonic palette with proceedings getting “little more deep and futuristic” as he bids to take people on a different journey to previous efforts. With a mix of old and new and promises of experimentation we’re excited to see exactly how the mix has turned out with re-edits of some classics that Eric thought “were missing percussion, or some other element I thought they could use.”  an exclusive track of his own in “Galactic Cinema.” Can’t wait…

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
