Share

Synthesizers are at the foundation of many different kinds of music. They’re musical instruments that can make a huge range of sounds. But they can be hard to understand.

Ableton have made a new site, Learning Synths. It’s an interactive website that puts a powerful but easy-to-learn synthesizer right in your web browser.

It’s free, sounds great, and works on any internet-connected device. Best of all, it comes with its own step-by-step lessons so you can explore and learn the fundamentals of synthesis at your own pace.

Get started making sounds with Ableton (Warning, enter this website at your own peril, we’ve been playing on it for 4 hours – the boss isn’t happy)

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
