What is it with South London and producing fresh talent these days? This morning we’ve all be high on the news that underground producer and DJ Last Japan will be releasing a his debut mixtape, Ride With Us. Setting himself apart from the mountain of other producers with his genre blurring amalgamation of 2 step, grime and funky house, the acclaimed “Shards of textures and sounds” all within in his palette often make it hard for us to catergorize his work as anything other than cool.

Making his names on some of the most hip independent labels such as Bullet Train, LNUK and Signal Life it wasn’t long before the multi instrumentalist was garnering some major attention from some of the industry’s biggest names with heavy support from BBC 1Xtra, Rinse FM and the likes of Toddla T and Jackmaster. Ride With Us may well be the underground bass music hit of the summer, embracing 2 step and grime whilst retaining a current edge we’re sure you’ll be hearing plenty of it during July and August.

Slated for release July 7 as a run of 25 cassettes, as well as a digital download you can stream the instrumental version of mixtape cut ‘Harca’  and check out the full tracklisting of Ride With Us below.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
