If you consider yourself a fan of clued-in contemporary house music, then you’ve mostly likely around been wowed by Flashmob at some stage over the past few years. Indeed, the Italian heavyweights have seen their stock soar in recent years, a fact that’s attributable to some frankly huge releases on the likes of Get Physical and more recently, the all-encompassing house music behemoth that is British imprint Defected Records. It’s a signing that’s worked wonders for them too, as they’ve quickly climbed the ranks to become one of the scene’s most cherished house duos. Well now they’ve decided to take the next logical step and launch an imprint of their own.

Entitled Flashmob Records the new label’s opening gambit naturally comes from  the duo themselves but features the talents of acclaimed underground figure Kevin Knapp who after impressing on the likes of OFF and Hot Creations now brings his Berlin enthused sound to this inaugural release.

‘With so much exciting new music in the air, it feels like the right time to start our own boutique label,’’ says Flashmob’s Danny and Alessandro. ‘We want to showcase the music we have enjoyed making and playing out, and also help some of our friends get the attention they need too.’

Teaming up with Hector Moralez on the B-side as a debut effort ‘Who’ appears a serious statement of intent and we hope a sign of things to come. Check out the Kevin Knapp featuring title track for yourself below.

Grahame Farmer

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
