The evolution of the Anjunadeep label over the years has been an interesting one, and always worth paying attention to. Beginning as a progressive offshoot to Anjunabeats, the hugely successful label of reigning trance duo Above & Beyond, it eventually forged its own unmistakable identity thanks to the clever steering of label boss James Grant, who’s also helped mixed most of its annual showcases.

Now after four years away, 16 Bit Lolitas, the duo behind Anjunadeep classics like “Nobody Seems To Care” and “Murder Weapon” return to the label with the Beat Organ EP. Featuring three tracks harnessing the atmospheric, emotive sound they made their names with, the Beat Organ EP sees Ariaan and Peter bring a refined, contemporary edge to proceedings.

Our favorite track off the EP, is the climatic and curiously titled final track “Friendly Neighbour”, which built around a rolling bass heavy groove, underpinned by rich melodies, interlocking textures and warm, feel-good atmospherics had us at first listen as one we knew we needed to secure as an exclusive premiere for the site.

With the “Beat Organ EP” an assured comeback, and a prime example of the progressive revival slowly beginning to take shape on dancefloors across Europe get reacquainted with the sounds of 16 Bit Lolitas as you recover from the bank holiday weekend!

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
