German DJ, producer and DT favorite DJ Hell has confirmed that he is to follow up last years ‘Kern’ mix compilation with a sequel to the far reaching LP that will hit shelves on July 15th. Entitled ‘Kern Volume 2′ the latest instalment of what is fast looking like becoming a series for the Deejay Gigolo head honcho promises to continue to explore some of the producers archived material that may have otherwise gone neglected in the scenes constant attempts to be at the cutting edge of music.  Thus it was with great delight when last November Hell took us on a trip down memory lane and reminded us of some forgotten classics that were certainly deserving of a revisit from time to time.

However it’s not purely about retro sounds as the DJ will also be using the compilation to shine a spotlight on fresh tracks from rising stars within the industry to give the mix an interesting juxtaposition between old and new. It was this paradox that was the impetus for the first Kern’s success for Berlin powerhouse Tresor and one look at the track listing for the new edition would suggest that Hell is set to repeat the trick with this second volume. Inner City, Robert Hood and Code 6 on the same CD as Recondite and Jonas Kopp? Yes please….

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
