Deadmau5 Quits Twitter

The sun to rise. It to rain at least once during GlastonburyDeadmau5 to be outspoken on his views on Twitter. People breathing oxygen. Some things in life are just universal truths that we’ve become so accustomed to that we almost take them for granted, thus when it was brought to our attention that Canadian mouse-head wearing producer Deadmau5 would be leaving Twitter it made us start to question anything and everything.

Yes, it’s true one of the social networks most amusing, cutting and honest characters is signing his Twitter account over to his management team. Confirmed  on his Tumblr the reasoning behind the move is still unknown although the Mau5 assures us it is nothing to do with anything he has said or “Lady Gaga’s infinite legions of brain dead fans” but is rather “reasons of his own.” Whilst we can only speculate what these reasons are, we wonder if they are similar to Flux Pavilion’s in deciding that social media simply takes up too much time that could be spent more productively making music.

Who knows? What we do know is that Deadmau5’s often comic interjections will be sorely missed here at DT. Who could forget the hilarious lampooning of Flo Rida’s god awful ‘Beamz’ product or his public rejection of an MTV nomination? Gold.

Check out the full statement from the ‘Ghosts N Stuff’ producer and an ambient EP of sorts inspired by the seven deadly sins entitled ‘7’ below.

“I’m no longer going to be managing my own twitter account for “deadmau5”. I’m going to let management deal with that account. My reasons are my own, not because of something i said, not because of this hilarious I.R.A. vs “ira” craic, not because of lady gaga’s infinite legions of brain dead fans. but as i said… reasons of my own.

Perhaps ill return to that in world as some reincarnation of sort, but for now, that’s off the table for me. I’ll continue to upload new music to my soundcloud, and the twitter account will point you in the right direction for the most recent happenings… but enough’s enough with living on twitter. Time to at least start by living in the studio making music without having to be force-fed stupid shit that annoys me, when all i’m trying to do is connect with fans.

as for the fans, thanks for all your continued support and understanding of my decision to personally unplug myself from the very thing that’s making me upset. As i’ve mentioned, the account will remain alive, and *my team*  (yeah i went there) will keep you just as updated on the ongoings with new music and shit that actually matters.

To leave you with some good news, my new Tricaster arrives today. SO perhaps ill be streaming video with direct audio a lot more often.

thanks for having my back on this one.

Grahame Farmer’s love affair with electronic music goes back to the mid-90s when he first began to venture into the UK’s beloved rave culture, finding himself interlaced with some of the country’s most seminal club spaces. A trip to dance music’s anointed holy ground of Ibiza in 1997 then cemented his sense of purpose and laid the foundations for what was to come over the next few decades of his marriage to the music industry.
